As an affiliated organization of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the Incheon Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries is responsible for controlling an ocean area of 350 square-kilometers, including all of Incheon Port (Inner Port, North Port, South Port, and New Port), Gyeongin Port, two coastal harbors, and national fishing harbors. Its main business is developing and operating ports, managing marine transport business, supporting fishery management, and preserving the marine environment, as well as establishing and implementing maritime and fishery policies depending on regional policy conditions.

Since its opening in 1883, Incheon Port has served as a gateway to the capital region and advanced as a base for overseas exporting. This means that Incheon port has made a big contribution to promoting Korea as a trade-oriented global economic powerhouse

Incheon Port is now facing an opportunity to once again leap forward. Container terminals in Incheon New Port finally opened in June 2015 after preparations over the past eight years. , Incheon Port is thus equipped with port infrastructure that can directly connect the logistics and passengers of the West Sea between China and the capital area of Seoul and beyond.

The Incheon Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries will do its utmost to make Incheon Port the most competitive logistics hub in the Pan Yellow Sea region and also stand out in the world by making the most of its historical status and geopolitical strengths to specialize port functions, and by developing and cultivating a hinterland logistics complex in Incheon New Port.
